Thermostat Always Cold

So I pulled the intrument panel and the gauges out. I took the oil pressure guage and swapped it with the temperature guage to see if I had power. Both guages seemed to work (but in reverse). When I moved them back my temperature guage seemed to begin working again. I do remember pulling the cluster once before to swap out the PRNDL cable. These are push pins and only go in one way. So I'm baffled about how it wouldn't get power. Hmmmm

So now I notice that the temperature seems to fluctuate. I have seen thermostats and fans listed as common causes of these symtoms.

Any other possabilities I should consider?
