Just had my Thermostat Housing replaced on my 2003 Explorer. They put new thermostat, new sensor, Orings etc. Now I notice when I am stopped with it in drive that my explorer is rumbling and it never did that before. Also after I got home I noticed the top coolant hose is very hot. I smell coolant also. the heater works great and my temp gauge is normal. Is this normal? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would rent a pressure tester from your local autopart store and pressurize the system up. If it loses pressure, you will see coolant leaking somewhere on the block. I had this type of problem for years and a faint sweet odor of antifreeze was coming somewhere near the engine block, but I did not see a leak. After I pumped pressure into the system, I found the leak at the thermal housing.
