Anyone ever replace the thermostat housing gasket that goes between the thermostat housing and the passenger cylinder head. Mine is leaking and needs to replace it. Haynes nor chiltons has information on how to replace the o-ring gasket. I plan on tearing into it this week so any help would surely be appreciated.

BlueOval...if all you have is the o-ring gasket that goes around the edge of the thermostat...there's three 10MM bolts.

Well, first, drain anti-freeze.
Remove three 10mm bolts
pull thermostat housing away from intake manifold
the thermostat should come with it, well, depending if the seal is stuck to the thermostat housing or the intake manifold
put new gasket on new thermostat
press the gaske0t/thermostat(which will be 1 unit now) into the circular ridge that it came out of as good as you can. The SPRING side goes INTO the engine.
Re-attach thermostat housing with three 10mm bolts
Fill coolant back up.
Start, check for leaks
Easy!

One note to make, make sure the AIR tit is at 12:00 position when thermostat is being installed.

Actually, this is the o-ring between the cylinder head and water outlet/thermostat housing unit. Thanks fore the help anyways guys. Hope to tear into it this weekend.

Yes, when I said "gasket" I did mean O-ring. Have fun!!!

Well, It's all finished and I have to say it was a PITA. The O-Ring that I had to replace was the one that connects to the water outlet/thermostat housing to the right cylinder head. This is not the one that seals the thermostat. Three hours of having to take the alternator, pulleys, accessory bracket, bypass hoses, temp sensor connectors, and top of thermostat off to get to the three 8mm bolts was not fun to say the least. The good news is the leak is gone and I finally got to replace the 1 inch hose that goes between the water pump and the thermostat housing which I have been putting off for the last few years.
