OK, so some of you may know i HAD a 93 explorer sport 4x4 5-speed. i did a 3" body lift and put some 32s on it. well, after getting 12 mpg and driving pretty much everywhere, i traded it for a cavalier. recently, i have had an offer on my cavalier that is hard to ignore.

so i come to a crossroad. i am thinking about getting back into the 4x4 world. i'm debating leasing a new ranger edge 4x4 or buying an older 4x4 so the "incaseshit" aka insurance is less.

about 2 blocks from me, i found a 91 ranger x-cab 4x4 5-speed with a manual 1354 and manual hubs, 5.5 or6" suspension lift sitting on 33" BFGs. so i'm thinking, "NICE!" its a little banged up and paint job leaves much to be desired but its definately an off-road truck.

milage i am unsure of as of yet.

he wants $3000 for it and says it needs calipers.

i do not as of yet know the gear ratio, but what i want to know is if that sounds like a fair price for the truck. also, would it be feasable to swap in leather seats from an explorer?

If you want a 4x4 to actually use, I would not be thinking about leasing an Edge.

$3000 for the 91 is probably a fair price. I would check Blue Book, and try to work the price down regardless.

What engine does it have? Rangers come with 2.3, 3.0, and 4.0. And definately find out the gear ratio, you don't want the same situation you had with the Sport!

its got the 4.0. teh gear ratio does concern me. since the sheet on the window made no mention of regearing, i would say that part is stock so the best i can hope for is 3.73LS. whatever it is, i hope to god its not like my ex was (3.27 open with 32s)
