Good day all-

Can someone please let me know which is the hot wire and which is the neutral wire. Their are two wires onto the plug that plugs onto the third brake light. One is like a solid light brown wire the other has a white line going through it , i'm thinking that the one with the white strip is the neutral one. Please advise . Thank you.

Car wires have so many colors it's a real lottery to guess what's what based on colors alone.

The correct way to find out is to use a 12V power tester or multi-meter. The easiest is to get one of those with a little light in them that cost like $5. You attach the ground wire of the tester to a ground on the car (bolt / chassis will do), and the other you either stick into any exposed part of the wire (usually at the connector), or you can stick it into the wire center if you can't find any other option. Just have someone put their foot on the brake, or put something heavy on it or the wire will probably not have any power running through it. When it lights up, you know which one is power and which is ground/neutral. If you use a multi-meter, same procedure, black on ground, red to test the wire.

Brown is the HOT wire, the other one is the chassis ground.
