I was just looking around over at Ford Parts Network and found that the complete factory 2003 Cobra supercharger and intake system can be had for right around $2300. Most of the aftermarket kits I've seen range from $2800 - $3500+.

I'm thinking that this would bolt right onto the 5.4L found in most trucks (the Cobra even uses the same cams as the Navigator). Of course you would need various other smaller items to complete the install, but overall it would seem like this method would give you an extremely clean install. Am I missing something?

Here are most of the part numbers:

2R3Z 6F066-AA Genuine Ford 2003 Cobra supercharger $1199.99

2R3Z 6K775-BA Genuine Ford 2003 Cobra intercooler assy $299.99

2R3Z 9424-BB Genuine Ford 2003 Cobra lower intake $399.99

3R3Z 9424-DA Genuine Ford 2003 Cobra upper intake assy, includes, EGR, Bracket, TB, IAC, and snake emblem $ 399.99
(hell, the snake emblem alone makes the kit worth while)

Now, does anybody know if there is a way to fit this onto the 4.6L

Me = Stoopid

Doh! Stupid me, I forgot the Cobra gets the 4.6L not the 5.4L, the website was mentioning "same cams as Navigator" and I got on the truck engine kick .

But on a good note, that also means that it would fit a whole crap load of other applications, like Crown Vics and F150's, right? If this is true, I might have to search the classifieds for a project vehicle.

The Cobra R's had the 5.4L in them, I figured that might have been where the confusion was, but the 2003 Cobras (I tested one out last night;)) have the 390 hp 4.6L.

Look for the Cobra's in 2004-05 to offer a 5.0L, which I am sure many enthusiasts will be happy to see. It is a bored out 4.6L and produces 415 hp, naturally aspirated. So, if you bore out a 4.6L 2003 Cobra + the supercharger = wow.

Good luck!

I'd want one of those!

Hmmmm, make Splat rear-engined and seat it in the cargo area ;)

So would the Cobra lower manifold be compatible with the heads on say a new Crown Vic? If so, that would make a nice sleeper. Not only would everybody get out of your way because of the "cop car" image, but you could really piss off the ricers by showing them the tail lights of a 2 ton sedan.

No it wouldn't fit because the Cobra is DOHC and the Crown Vic is SOHC. Not to worry though there has been a supercharger manifold available from Ford Motorsports for the 4.6L SOHC for several years already.

the only thing youl fit that s/c on is a 4v 4.6

besides. if you want something supercharged get a better one then fords.

im just not a big fan of roots blowers.

cintrifigul all the way.

i wonder if i spelled cintrifigul right.

Yep, I finally figured that out today after talking with a friend and looking through some old magazines. Sorry about all the mistakes, I haven't been paying attention to any of the newer cars and trucks for a couple years now because a) a new addition to the family = no time , and b) a new addition to the family = no money  (but fortunately, the new addition has been really fun so I haven't missed messing with the truck too much:D ).

Mikeresin, centrifugal is the correct spelling, you were pretty close.

Thanks again for the info. Have a good one, all.
