2002 Mercury Mountaineer
So the other day my boss rented the software from ford to flash a ficm for an 05 excursion and figured since the subscription was for three days why not use it. He offered to check my 02 4.6 Mountaineer for updates and half way through flashing the pcm is just said error and wiped out my whole pcm. Truck would not start afterwards. Looked up a mobile programming guy online and found one that guaranteed he could bring my pcm back from the dead. He came and did his magic and low and behold got the pcm back and truck running. The issue is that he is trying to tell me that my key pad on the drivers door must be aftermarket because the five digit code for the security module was blank. I assured him that it worked 100% that morning and he told me thats odd. I even pulled the trim off the right rear wuarter panel and gave him the number off the module but he said he could not manually enter a number. I tried using the factory number on the key pad with no positive result. After so many entries all the lights just flash. I am however able to program key fobs to the truck with out issue. Any ideas on how I can fix this driver door keypad issue? I really like that function.

When he flashed the PCM, did he flash the PCM with the right model and trim? Perhaps he flashed it with the programming for a truck that did not have a keypad installed. If so it would probably need flashed again.

The other thing is that it could be something to do with resetting the keypad after the memory being wiped, it may be that he has to assign the keypad a number to be able to use it. I'm not familiar with these keypads... is there a factory reset option that you haven't tried?

With the memory wiped I wold imagine the keypad would've reverted to the factory setting which was most likely the model year, since it is totally blank I'd worry about it being my first guess that the program he flashed it was not for a vehicle with a keypad (since this was an option).

Does your boss still have the software? You may shudder to consider it, but maybe see if your boss could update the BCM (body control module probably controls keypad) or flash the correct program onto it. What causes that sort of error (that screwed it up in the first place) is if the program is in the middle of writing to the PCM (or any other onboard computer) if you were to lose connection, be it unplugging the machine or losing it in some other way.

Wish I could help more, I'm no guru x D just a kid with a tiny bit of an education.

There is a security module for that keypad. There is no master reset that I am aware of or have found any where online. The guy that fixed it charges 130$ and said he sould not come back for free.

Some of the NAPA stores flash PCMs. $80? The ones at the distribution centers. Have to bring the PCM in of course. See if the one in your area offers it
