ok so i took my x today and went and got new radius arm bushings put on and it got rid of the loud squeaking noise when i turn or apply the brakes, now there was this loud clicking noise too when the wheel was spinning and the guy told me that it was the radius arm (something was spinning inside the rod... well he told me that the bushing was gone and cracked up which i knew and that everything was fine, anyways the squeaking is gone but that damn noise is still there not as loud but its still there and if i hit a bump it like rattles this thing is driving me insane, i cant have a x with noises i just hate them.... please what can this be , someone help me!!! thanks tom....

I have no idea. Sway bar end links?

Where is this noise coming from? On 1st gens the Radius Arm bushings (which you fixed) and sway bar end links are suspect. Do you have 4x4
(your profile doesn't indicate if your x is 4x4 or 4x2)? If so the autohubs will click/ratchet when turning if they have been greased inside.

it sounds like its coming from the front left wheel, and i do have 4x4, how do u check the autohubs????

Go into 4x4 and see if the noise stops. If the HUB has been greased then it will cause clicking/racheting when making turns. It does this because the grease has hydrolocked the spring at the end of the HUB and forces it back and forth between engage & disengage (that the noise you hear). So if you go into 4x4 the front axle will get powered and force the hub to engage (the noise will stop). If your hubs are completely shot then you will need to remove and inspect them for damage etc..

i dont even think my 4x4 works... i hit the button the light doesnt come on or anything

Ok...Start the X and then press the 4x4 button. Shut off Radio and Listen carefully for relays clicking in the rear trunk area (driver's side rear window). If you hear relays then most likely your Electronic Shift Motor needs to be cleaned/overhauled. Let me know and I can point you in the correct direction.

yea everytime i hit the 4x4 button something clicks in the back real soft, i can barely hear it but it clicks everytime i hit the button

Check out Shift motor problem thread and searching on "shift motor" will yield many results.. Check the maintenance link in my sig below it has lots of good info..

thanks for the info..... but what could that clicking noise be? coming from the front and its not as bad since i got the bushings but its stll does it and when i hit a bump it sounds like it rattles
