OK,
I've done a search on the flashing 4x4 lights and i'm pretty sure itis going to be the speed sensors, but mine has a bit of a twist to it.

Normal driving conditions ( on-road ) will not cause the lights to flash , ever! It seems that when i use 4x4 low, the car plays up somethin' shockin. Only when 4x4 low is engaged, and the vehicle is on sand will it play up. When i go to take the car out of 4x4 low, the lights flash 6 times every minute and it is stuck in low range. The 4x4 switch has no effect on the situation and the only way to get the car out of low range is to stop, pull the negative lead off the battery and replace it. Only then will it show that it is in low range and allow me to change it from low range to Auto. Im thinking the speed sensors arent dirty because it only does it in 4x4 low, maybe im wrong. Anyone have any ideas because it has done this to me 3 times in as many outings, and im starting to dislike the car. Any help would be great.

Thanks

My first suggestion would be the remove the shift motor and dismantle and clean it. There are some contacts inside the motor which may be dirty and sending back false info to the system.
