Here's how my trunk looks as of last night:
2150trunk_apart.jpg

Now that's not too pretty! I've got 2-12in Eclipse DVC's which combine I can run at either a 4ohm or 1ohm load on my amp which does 1500x1 @ 2ohm. I mentioned to Expo I might go with 1 MTX 9500 12in and run it at a 2ohm load and be happy, but I've also thought about completely changing everything up. Maybe downsize and get some crazier angles in a much less consuming space with possible 10's. Not too sure. Anyways, guy, give me ideas. Everything and anything! Setups, brands, bring it on! This fall I'm gonna make a full box change, not sure how though.
Thanks!

What is it your going for, personal enjoyment, wow factor, SPL, SQ, or best of all worlds....? Price range?

Are you wanting to keep any of your equipment/re-use it?
What I'd do, it already looks like you have the trunk pretty much sealed off... well, finish doing the job, seal off the rear deck, sound deaden it... make a new box sealed/ported, I'd do ported, its my preference ;) Face sub(s)/port(s) toward the front.... This will eliminate the airspace in the trunk you effectively have to pressurize, and it seems to me that your subs didn't have a whole lot of room to effectively transfer their output from the trunk to the cabin?

What about 2- single 4 ohm/or 2- dual 2 ohm v.c. subs to that amp, series parallel to get a 2 ohm mono load.
The mtx 8500 series is available in single 4 configurations, and has many of the benefits of the 9500 series.
The eclipse SW8122.4 has a single 4 v.c. you could run a pair of these?

Crazier idea's...
what's the wattage rating of those subs, if they are pretty efficient, you could get 2 more of them, series paralleling the quartet to 2 ohms mono... mmm 4 12"s.. :drools:

Anyways, if thats not up your alley what about a whole bunch of 10"s or 8"s... like 4 8"s, 8- 8"s something like that, My setup over the winter is gonna be 6-8 8" XEs... cheap, and just for fun....

Bottom line is there is a lot out there, do some searching, all kinds of possibilities are available...

Well I'm starting to think along the lines of 1 or 2 10s, and gain some space, as well as lose weight. That box in there is pretty heavy, and there is some sag in the rear of the car. Not sure how many or what kind, but quality will definately be top notch!

Yeah yea, funny guy! Not that I changed it! However I can't change the title itself. That's up to a moderator, however the top line of the link has been adjusted accordingly! Ya got me though!

Actually thinking about the new alpine X-Type SWX-1042D. Trying to find weight and more measurements

How much space and what kind of sound/loudness.

A pair or set of 3 RE 8s would sound good and be inexpensive w/ a small footprint.

^ and would produce an odd ohm load.... I was wondering how long it would take for someone to suggest re 8"s lol....

Mmmmm have you heard them? They are tasty good and it's impressive how good they sound in such small boxes.

Besides, that ohm load should not be a problem for any amp that does 500w x 1 into 1 ohm ;)

2x 10" kicker L7's... although not light or cheap. I like the eclipse subs you have now, they sound really damn good. Or a single Orion H2, custom fiberglass mounted upside down over the spare tire insert. Neither of those options are horribly light. Heh.

For amps, probably kicker if you went with L7's, or if you need door speaker amps as well, look into the memphis belle amp. Quite nice 5ch amp. They also make a pretty decent sub.

my thoughts, ideas, and input

bleh, kicker.... anyways any thoughts yet, a good amount of "imput" here.... lol

Nothin really... lookin at the higher end... elemental, adire... the only address for RE that i have doesn't work. Anyone have a working link to them?

Call: (702) 896 4823

Ask for David or Ed, both will take care of you.

yeah I've talked to david before, cool guy.....

as for my Elemental comment, I've read quite a bit in terms of rumors, bad experiences, warranty issues etc. But it's up to you... just saying good luck, seems if you get a bad woofer they are reluctant to replace under warranty...

Well I need to get myself a new alternator first, but the Adire Audio Brahama 10 is very tempting! I can get rid of half my box, which will be my only loss of weight, but everything I read is they're a great sub, and can get insanely loud. Also, they can take anything I throw at it. So as of now, I think this'll be the route I take, running 1 Brahama 10

I'm looking to possibly get a Brahma 10 for X-mas, and run it off my MTX 1501D. Anyone have exprience with Adire or the Brahma. It seems as though it's a pretty sweet sub, but I know they're a smaller company, and aren't one to advertise or sponser. Any help is appreciated!
http://www.adireaudio.com

Oh I think I'm going to go this route because they are alot lighter than the MTX

Brahmas sound greeeeeeeeat in sealed boxes. Just don't go super crazy with power and be generous with polyfill :)
