Does anyone have any experience with throtle body spacers, I have a K&N intake kit and was wondering it there would be a problem with the tube hitting the fan shroud, I think there would be but I don't have a spacer and don't want to spend $80 to have it not fit. I spacer i am think about is one inch.

Um, what?

Try a search here for "throttle body spacer," there is a bunch of info on them. I have never heard, from the few members here that have actually run one, of any clearance issues with the fan shroud.

i have one on my 99 sport it came with it and there isnt any clearance issues , and it dont look too bad either.

General consensus is that they do NOTHING in our application. Spend the money elsewhere or send it to me.

Looks like I'm getting some money!

Ask for a dyno results (now I sound like Spindlecone). There has never been any published dyno result to show a TBS works. People will tell you that they noticed a difference, or the really good one, they get better mileage, but it's all pretty subjective.

Do a search on the topic. Good luck finding anyone that can objectively prove that a TBS does anything for us. From what I've seen, the TBS is a mod more geared to carbureted engines.

Save your money or Paypal it to me. :)

Any idea what that factory plastic spacer is there for on the SOHC? I just took my TB off to clean it last week and found this odd thin phenolic spacer with some sort of "fins" potruding into the throttle bore. Ford must have had a reason for this.

Don't know, but I just Dremel'd mine. Fins are gone and I thinned out the plastic a bit to work better with my Ford Racing 70mm throttle body. If the fins do something, I've never noticed a difference. I had a paper gasket in its place for a little while, but put back the plastic OEM gasket because I like the fit of my intake/throttle body better (less slack in cable).
