Throttle body spacer

Does anyone know where I can get a throttle body spacer for my 91 EX? I would like one with the spiral design, like the helix power tower.I can find one for a 92 but not a 91 and my mechanic says they are the same.That true? Anyone tried one? Does it make a difference to power? To mileage?

It should be the same for 91-94, if not even higher. I heard these don't do anything, and are a waste of money though, maybe put the money towards something else...

Do a forum search for "throttle body spacer" and you'll find lot's of threads on this subject. I've come to one conclusion: They're waste of money.

yes they are the same design, and you can find it cheapest at jcwhitney or summit. i have one on my x and i got 1mpg better of a gas, and they a little bit of powerm. from my experience.

If you are going to get one make sure that you are not planning to get a K&N or KMM intake kit. They will not work with them. However, you can get a K&N drop-in filter and it should help with your results.


As for fit, I am sure that it will fit your 91, cuz very few changes were made from 91-92. I say go for it! And if you do, please post the results of both fuel economy, and performance. Throttle body spacers are kinda inconclusive. We really have no definitive answer as to how much power and fuel econmy they will give to the Explorer. Thanx in advance.

i got a friend who has one in his 89 ranger, he swears up and down it made a noticeable difference mid range, but he also he would pay for one, it was a gift. I got sucked in to one of these BS mods, the intake chip, uh huh took it in the keister on that one, what a peice of junk. Heard alot of good things about the tornado too
