I have been having some high idle issues and now some hard stating issues. I hooked up a scanner and see that the "ABSLT TPS %" is at about 18 at idle. and the "CALC LOAD %" is about 34. Is this normal or do you think the TPS is bad.

Thanks,
Willie

First thing I'd do is clean the MAF and the IAC. Those two fix a lot of hard to start/flaky idle issues.

Is is appropriate to vlean the MAF with carb cleaner or does that degrade the plastic?

Don't use carb cleaner on EFI parts. I personally do not know the reason why, but there are too many warnings against its' use.

Normal reading

18% is normal for TPS absolute at idle. I don't remember the value for calculated load. Which engine do you have?

I have the 5.0L V8

I was going to change the TPS, but if 18% is normal I will go after the MAF sensor.

I also get error codes P0133 and P0153 which are for the two upstream O2 sensors.

Anyone know if a bad MAF sensor can cause these codes.

Thanks,w

Anyone know what the MAF sensoro reading should be with the engine off. I am getting around .6 lb/M?

Is this normal?
