Hi everyone,

Let me start by saying that I am new here and this site is great. Also, I have searched and found 90% of the time someone posts about this problem, they are told cleaning the throttle should fix this. I want to ask anyway because the circumstances hardly seem to be a coincidence. Let me explain.

I had to have the A4LD transmission in my explorer rebuilt. I took it to a guy who owns a transmission business, but does not work full time, only when he's not pouring concrete. Anyway, he rebuilt my tranny and after a few months, I had trouble with it leaking intermittently. After a few times of taking it back to him (over a period of about 18 months) it has stopped leaking. Since i got it back from him thie last time, the problem now is that whenever i get on it (passing on the highway, take off too fast from a stop, even when it downshifts to go up a hill), the throttle sticks. If I put it in park or neutral when this is occuring, it idles at about 3000-3500 RPM's. What I have done to get around it is shut it off, pump the pedal a couple times, start it back up again and it runs at normal idle speed. I have tried pumping it like that while it is running, but it does no good. I have to shut it off to make it idle normal.

My questions is this. Could this in any way be related to the work that was done on the transmission or could it be transmission related at all? Before I go back to this guy with another complaint, I wanted to know if that is even a possibility.

Thanks,
John
