I have a thumping noise when I hit a bump or divit on the road, no movement in the steering, just a noise that sounds like it is hitting under the middile on the truck?

You are going to have to get under your truck and start checking things out. Look at crossmember mounts, radius arm bushings, shocks, everything..

I had that trouble too and it was the radius arm bushings. The were so loose you could jiggle them with your hand. Scared me the first time it happened sounded much worse than it was. Replaced them and no more thumping.

1993 Explorer Sport - loud thumping as though the brake rotors are loose and are banging around when driving over bumps in the roadway; there is no pulling or veering when braking or traveling.

This "Thumping Noise" quote bushing problem sounds like my problem - but I don't know what they call the two identical front end brackets that attach to the frame with 1 1/8" nuts and have rubber or vinyl bushings on both sides of the rounded portion of the brackets (to facilitate the threads). The nut is tightened down to its maximum - or where it runs out of thread - but one of the brackets (Right side) is still very loose and rattles loudly and moves when trying to tighten down the 1 1/8" nut. Am preparing to sell this sturdy beast and need to advise buyers of this problem. Would like to know what these parts are called. I don't think I can effect the bushings repair myself as it looks like the brackets attach to the two "sway bars" - and everything has to come off to replace bushings - ugh.

thanks..

You can get a 4 1/2" or larger grinder with a cutting wheel and cut the rivets off on brackes that hold the bushings then remove the brackets. There are some write ups on it. It's not the easiest job but doable if you wrench on your vehicles.

thanks - I think the job is called Radius Arm Bushing replacement. I also think this job is a bit over my weight limitation and brute strength. Not to mention tool crib limits. I think I'll just adjust the selling price to include the buyer's 5 or 6 hours of labor. Parts are minimal from what I read - under 50 clams.
