Tight steering

I have a 2006 explorer 4.6 4x4, the steering is much tighter than i feel it should be, we have a 2013 expedition and the steering on it almost feels fake cause its so easy to turn, are explorers just like this? or is it my power steering pump maybe? it has about 180k on it, and im assuming the fluid has never been changed, i did the test where i rev it to about 2-2500 rpm and the steering still dosent get easier to turn. So im not exactly sure what it could be other than the fluid. Anyone else have this problem?

What you are probably feeling is the difference between the old hydraulic power steering on the explorer and the new electric power steering in the expedition. The electric power steering is way easier to turn.

Oh okay, I had a feeling that was part of the issue too. I'm still going to do a fluid change, I checked it today and it was straight up black.
