I have a 2000 Explorer 4X2, SOHC with 103k miles, almost 30k of which i have put on. I have just recently noticed a rattle around 2300 rpm which I understand is the timing chains. I have a few questions...
About how many miles do I have before the chains give out? 20k-ish?
I don't think it is worth fixing (except I just put $600 worth of Michelin's on her, and $500 worth of front brake pads and rotors) other things will just continue to break.
I haven't heard much about Escapes, but I think I would like an I-4 Escape or a Pontiac G5. (Will be a freshmen in college in the fall so i need something easy on gas.)
Suggestions?
