this is not a timing belt..... i dont know what i was thinking about LoL...... too many smoke cakes! anyways its a drive belt.... so.

I was looking at the forum today and got a little worried when I saw people where changing their belts at 55K miles!

My 97 4.0 SOHC has done 130K miles and while I have had it the belts have not been changed.

that's not a timing belt

It's called a serpentine belt, and it looks worn out to me. I would change it; takes about 45 seconds for a good mechanic. About a minute for a rookie.....:D

While you have the belt off, inspect the tensioner and all the idler pullys. If there is any squeaking, wobble, or binding in the any of the pullys, replace them.

Look at the underside (grooved) side of that belt and see how worn it is. When you get a new belt roll up the old one, zip tie it and stow it somewhere for a spare.
