Gotten 2 estimates for my timing chain.. One frim an indy shop with Napa stickers all ovet and it was for 2100. My mechanic who works on it currently is at a kia dealer and they quoted me 2450.
I wanna keep tye truck.. I found a nice leather interior and I could really have a nice rig but 2000 and up seem high. I have 4wd. Should I keep asking around? I need wheel bearings and a belt tensioner.
I was gonna try and pleed with Ford since im disabled
If anyone knows of a good mechanic im willing to drIve around 500 miles from Portland Oregon to get it done. 1500 is what I hope to spend on the timing chain work
Thank for the help and keeping one sick dude rolling:D

if you have the 5.0 there's really no reason to change the timing chain unless you're in there for another issue; those engines are pretty durable and the chain will give acceptable service for well over 200k

It depends on which chain needs to be replaced. The front chain is not a huge deal, comparable to a pushrod motor. Are you sure the rear chain/cassette are bad? That's the one that requires motor removal.
