Timing Cover - chewed by water pump - replace timing cover?

I had the usual squeak and chirp when the bearing failed. When I took off the water pump, I found the timing cover looking like this. And, the protruding part of the cover seems like it has been gouged.

My concern is the pump won't be able to create the pressure needed to function properly.

Do you think I need to replace the timing cover. The cover is fairly inexpensive and the front end of the Explorer is disassembled so the Timing Cover should not be too hard to replace.

Here is a link to a used cover for sale on ebay only as a reference to the condition of the water pump seat.

PS - note the lateral sides of the cover appear to be worn by the impeller.

The opinion I'm receiving is to let it ride as is. If I pull the timing cover off, I should get a glimpse of the timing chains and guides.
