Is it possible to change the timing gear and sprocket without removing the engine? The Haynes manual says to remove engine, but the autozone site doesn't say anything about removing the engine. Could someone please help me with this? i got to get my X back on the road. Thanks for any help given.

Do it in frame, with the radiator out of the way you'll have lotsa room, and if you decide to pull the motor, you're that much closer to gittin 'er dun.

Timing issue

Anything that was in front of the motor is pulled. Alternator, power steering,a/c compressor, radiator etc. I have the stock 4.0L lowered all the way around 3". Thinking about bags. I just want to get my X rollin' again for now.It has gotten me in alot of stuff, but it has gotten me out alot more. Thanks for the reply savagefan.Gonna be up early to start because these Texas summers can make a person FLIP.I'm talking about 6 feet under.
