Tips/Hints on Rancho shock install all around

I ordered Rancho's RSX shocks today to try to improve ride quality on m 97 EB V-8, Hope it helps!

Is this as easy as the Chilton mauel says? Seems pretty straight forward. Any supprises I should no about?

Here's what V8BoatBuilder told me

"It wasn't too bad. I tired too hard to undo the bolts, its better to start the project with fresh sawzall blades instead of PB Blaster or WD40.

On the rear shocks, there are 2 13mm bolts at the top of the shock, these must be undone. But its not hard. At the bottom, are some pretty decent sized bolts. Before you start the project, get new ones. Then dig in with the saw.

On the front, the bottom has the 13mm nuts. If you have air, it helps. Take those off. At the top, again, CUT! The bolt is part of the shock, so its replaced anyways with the ranchos.

The project took about 5 hours, and that included lots of time trying to free the bolts. If i just went in there with the saw, It wouldn't be as long.

The truck dosen't need to be jacked up, esp with 31" tires. "

Just the kind of tips i was looking for man, I will have a saw handy and unfortunatly I do not have air but oh well. I figure saving myself a $135.00 install charge and 1 day out of my life I can sweat a little getting these bolts undone. Hope it's worth it to get a better ride over the stock shocks.

Bolt problems from rust?

Are the problems replacing shocks from rust or something? My wife's Ex has 85K on it and the black paint on the brackets is still shiny under all the dirt. The only suggestion I would have for the rear shocks is to drop the spare to get more room, while the most trouble I've had is getting enough torque on the front top nuts while holding the shock body with one hand. I don't really have a context for road salt / snow issues, so I was surprised to read the suggestions in this thread.
