Nice man, i dont know what size will fit in a 97, i think a 31x10.50 will fit with minor rubbing.

I personally like the Yokohama Geolander AT plus 2's.

They are cheap (96 at trierack.com) and are very good off road, i use em all the time on the beach

a 31x10.5x15 should fit, you might have to trim a little but more than most people dont have to, but i love my BFG A/T's never had a problem with them and they have gotten me out of may places not so great in thick mud but no A/T is going to be that good in the mud

Oh and go Gamecocks, my cousin plays for USC #58 John Guerry

Steer clear of General and Kumho's. My dad bought me both brands and they were terrible. I've got some geolander AT's now. Can't break those loose in the rain, if I farted in the rain the generals and kumhos broke loose.

I've been running 31" general grabbers as my winter tires for the past two years with no such problems. The only thing I didn't like is they are a very hard tire which made the ride a little ruffer.

I had 31x10.50x15 BFG TA/KO All-Terrains on my Nissan Frontier and loved them. They were quiet and gave a smooth ride, but were still rugged. The price tag made my wallet sad.

Once the X-mas holiday is over with I plan on getting a set of the General Grabbers (AT2) from TireRack to try out on the Explorer. I haven't decided whether I'm going to stick with the stock 235/75/15 ($77) or go with the 31x10.50x15 ($90) instead.

I've heard nothing but good things about the General Grabbers, even regarding their wet traction. But, if you can afford them, the BFG All-Terrains are probably the most widely recommended A/T tire.

I don't mean to contradict myself... I'd buy another set of BFG's in a second. But the money I save from the Grabbers is going towards tune-up parts.

Look at Michelin LTX M/S. Pricey though, but they improved the ride in my 96 XLT alot.

I have BFG Rugged Trails and love them. On my F-150 i ran BFG All Terrains also loved them.

Michelin's are also excellent but they are like toypaseo said pricey.
