I am ready to buy new tires for my 97 Explorer XLT AWD 5.0, and would like some advice from other Explorer owners who have knowledge on this subject.
I have narrowed it down to:

Yokohama Geolandar A/T
Pirelli Scorpion A/T
(Both have great feedback from others - wear, ride, traction, etc.)

Also, stock tires are 235/75/R15.

What other choices for sizing do I have? I know I can stay at the same size, but maybe would like to go a little taller and or wider????? (I don't want to perform any modifications to suspension to accept the tires)
Thanks in advance for any input on this subject,
- Ed

Ed, tirerack.com has some good reading info. There is a ongoing survey that may help you, you'll find the current survey results at:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/highwayas.htm

I'm not sure about the reliability of the info presented, but for what is worth ...

By the way, I have a 96 XLT with stock 15" rims no lifts and presently have 30x9.5 and considering going 265/70/15. The Michelin LTX MS looks very promissing, but they don't make 265/70's.

I hope this will help you!
