'02 Sport, 4.0 SOHC, 5 speed manual, 2wd. 195,000 miles. Needs a few repairs, but runs smoothly. I just bought it a few weeks ago as my commuter vehicle to and from work. But it didn't take long before i started making a list of upgrades that I'm considering. If I do follow through, it'll be a sightly modify/restore project. Repair body damage and interior. shackle/TT lift with slightly larger than stock tires, sound system, fix all mechanical issues as they come along, dress up engine bay, etc.
My question is, with the vehicle being so old and not knowing how the previous owner(s) treated it, and with the high mileage, is it worth putting that much money into? I plan on keeping it until it completely falls apart, or until I decide it's an insatiable money pit. I just don't want to double what i paid for it in repairs/mods just to have it tear up six months down the road.
So what say you folks? Should it be a project vehicle, or just keep it as is and save for a newer vehicle?
