Sorry to hear about the Subaru, what happened? (got any pics?)

I've considering some sort of ABS cutoff switch that I can hit so I can get slowed down and pull into my driveway when it's slippery. ABS is good sometimes, other times not so much...

Sounds like you have things figured out for the Merc, she looks nice... What are you projecting for quarter mile abilities?

for me it's either abs AND traction control or neither... my factory 'ESP' does not fully shut off unless the fuse is pulled (and the systems are interlinked). I'm not too worried about no abs though for any situation where i should have the ESP full-off. Also, i'll never forget it's that way because about half my dashboard lights up at me when that fuse is pulled (or the switch i'm going to add is flipped).

Brother drove the subaru into the side of a truck. It's pretty smashed. It's in colorado so i'm having to deal with insurance to try to get $ out of the mods (or maybe buy it back) since i can't take anything off to put it back to stock. I really don't know how it will all play out yet.

My 1/4 times won't be that hot unless i can find someone to make me a custom rear end (and soon thereafter probably build a stronger tranny). The car is geared for the autobahn and has no limited slip. that said, it should be wicked fast where i drive it most (on the freeway).

My wife lost my stang in the rain about 10 years back (total loss), I too had a great deal of work done to it and when the insurance company offered me $2500 they seemed surprised when I told them I was not going to accept their offer. We argued off and on for a week or so, all the while I had their rental... They had to send the matter to an arbitrator who told them my car was worth $5500. I offered to buy the salvage and return the rental that day, got my car (the engine was the most important) back for $700, they took it off the cheque.

I bought another body and after a bit of work had my car back.

Moral is, don't let the insurance company push you around.

You could get a 9" and add whatever brackets you need to it, narrow it and you will have a bullet-proof rear. That would be neat...

Good luck with the ins co. They can be difficult to deal with...

I will be doing my best with them.

i wonder how hard it would be to add a custom 9"- maybe that is the answer
