I've got a 98 Explorer Sport that's my daily driver. It's got a torsion twist and WAR shackles, but it's only sitting level thanks to the saggy rear mono-leaf. As I mentioned, its my daily driver, so it sees about 99.9% of its duties on-road with the occasional jaunt off the beaten path, unplowed snowy roads, and slushy freeways. It needs to be able to get me to and from work through all four seasons. I have a 45 mile commute each way, and the first 5 at each end are often slushy and nasty in the wintertime.
Time to refocus the question, so I'll pare it down:
Michelin LTX M/S or BF Goodrich All Terrain TA's?
