Too many PIAAs to choose from...

I was looking for a new PIAA lamp for my '97 Explorer. I wanted one that would fit in the stock airdam or on the sides of the licence plate and my budget is around $200. There are so many types of the lamps, I was wondering what was the best. I want one that is street legal but has plenty of power. Is there that much of a difference between $100 and $200 lamps? I would like a slight blue tinge if possible. Any suggestions?

One more question... What is the difference between the clear fog, ion crystal fog, and the platinum series clear fog on the 1400 series? It is just color preferance? Thanks.

punisher, are you the one that e-mailed me about this? I can't keep track, too many emails . As for street legal, no PIAA's (except the superwhite headlight replacements) are street legal, neither are any aftermarket lights. Do you have fog lights there already or not? Does it have the space for the circular or rectangular lights? I have yet to see the 1400s in actionb ut I have the 1500 fog's as my reverse lights, Rick has the 1400 fog's as his reverse lights. If you want a slight blue tinge, the 1400's might be better, btu I don't think they'll put out as much light.

In the 1400's, I actually know your second question . Platinum clear fog is the same as theblack clear fog. The difference between the clear fog and ion crystal fog is basically the color. The ion crystal might give you the bluish tinge you want, the clears would be just a clear light. Supposedly they give out the same amount of light.

If you have the space for the rectangular lights in your airdam, both the 1500 and 1400 willf it... the 1500 will look more stock and the 1400 will not quite fill up the whole space... so its your own preference.

As for is there a difference between the $100 lights and the $200 lights. Yes, always. In the light produced, the construction of the lamp, the different harnesses included,e tc.
