Hello all,

this question may have been asked before. I did a search and couldn't come up with anything. Apollogies if it has. My question is I need to remove my speedometer from my dash board. Are there special tools I will need to do this or are they all pretty much standard?? Second question for those who have done this, how long should I expect to spend if it is my first time doing it? I have a haynes manual. Is it pretty straight forward?

thanks,

Mike

Mike, search for my post called colored lights in guage cluster. I gave an in depth explanation of how to get it off. First time is a pain in the butt. expect at least 45 minutes to an hour. Faster once you know what your doing. I've got to go to work or I'd find the post for ya.

Thanks, one more quick question

Thanks for your help. I got my dash apart last night. Not terrible to do. One piece of advise for those attempting it themselves, DISCONNECT the speedo cable from the transmission before pulling the assembly out. It will make it a lot easier.

Now for my last question. Is there any way to take my odometer from my old speedo and replace it on my new one. I would like for the miles to be as accurate as possible. If not, is this going to effect my resale value much. The one I bought has half as many miles on it, but I still have to report the miles as being inaccurate on the title.

Thanks for all the help

Mike

A friend of mine that works at a speedo shop told me that when ever they work on a speedo/odometer they must put the same number of miles on the odomoeter. Some type of Federal law.

I'm trying to remember what I saw him do when he rebuild out speedo.. If I remember correctly it was 2 small pins to pull the speedo apart.. once you are that far you can change the odometer reading anyway. If you want I'll see if I can get better instructions..

thanks for your help

Thanks Maniak, I actually pulled the speedometer and odometer apart on both units and attached the working speedo to my original odometer so now I have a working speedo on my original odometer. Kind of a pain to do, but with a little patience it's not that bad.
