SO we are in the middle of removing the engine and we are trying to get the darn Tranny disconnected. We have all of the tranny-to-engine bolts loose except the top three.

We have tried and tried to get the last three lose but in the process have broken both a socket wrench and split a socket.

We did drop the tranny and t-case a little bit to gain access to the bolts but these things won't budge.

Have any of you experienced this problem or what did you do to get them loose.? I need help ASAP. We are under the truck right now and are running out of light.

-Thanks

K. I'll try that.

But we have the wrenches on the bolts and they still aren't budging.

Spray them down with PB blaster, or liquid wrench.. whatever you prefer.

We've used every possible combination imaginable. Tried impact wrench with extension as well, but nothing. We split a chrome vanadium 1/2" socket on a breaker bar.

1st Post Yay.Just changed the transmission on my 97 5.0.If you remove the transfer case and lower the transmission as far as possible, you can sit behind the transmission with your head in the tunnel and SEE both upper bolts.Long extensions (LOTS of them),and no swivels needed. It's a straight shot from there.
