Hey guys, couldnt find this w/search so ill post it here.

I have a 2001 XLS 4.0sohc 4x4

I'm going to be doing a TT and Shackles in a couple of months and I was wondering if I should swap the torsions and maybe the IFS from an XLT....is there a difference or are they the same??

Oh and the shackles are being custom made (with warrior specs) custom paint and a little something extra. I'll post pics when I get them from my buddy.

Thanks for the help everyone!!!!:exp:

The IFs is exactly the same from 95-01 from what i know. you can swap in stiffer torsion bars if you want. Remember with the 4wd do not try to go more than 2 inches with the TT.

Ok cool, I should try and find the torsions at a junk yard unless someone here is getting rid of a pair. Oh and 2" is all I want to do right now until I get the 4" suspension kit.

Thanks for the help!

Just check the stamped steel plate on the drivers door jam for you bar code. Your probably stiff enough already, so i wouldnt mess with it.

Hmmm I didnt think if that but i'll check. I guess they would be fine being that its 4x4.

Oh and one last thing. With the torsions cranked 2" how much more wear can I expect on the CV joints??? Will they have to be replaced soon assuming they are in good condition?? BTW the X has a little over than 85,000 and runs great, still stiff and smooth. :salute:
