First post...
Just bought a '96 XLT V8 AWD w/106k. Truck has 4 new tires, new CV joints, and new fluids (except the coolant needs to be flushed). From what I can tell, all it needs is a new serp belt (which is being put on today) and shocks. Truck runs great and tranny shifts smooth...so I feel like its going to be a good vehicle for me. I paid $2,700 for it...so after I put on new shocks, etc I should be in it for approx 3k. Few blemishes here and there...but for $2700, there's not much more you can find on the road at that price that's decent. I bought it mainly to pull my boat (about 3,000 pounds). The truck came with a factory tranny cooler.
Couple of questions:
How do I know if has the "tow package" or not? I assume it should pull that boat easily...but wondering if there is anything else I should add. (I already have a class III hitch that I'm putting on)
What type of shocks does everyone recommend? I will be doing mostly highway driving and pulling the boat short distances.
