I traded my 91 explorer 4.0 eddie bauer 4x for a my brother's bronco II
he needed more of a driver and it was a spare so in exchange he then offered me his project bII. It runs and everything but to be honest its kind of a hack job, but its never let him down. I'll take some pics tomorrow but remeber its just the begining. so on paper this is what I got...
1990 bronco II 2x
1998 5.0 from and exploder
2003 5 speed from an F-150
explorer tow package leafs/sway bar and 3.73 lsd 8.8 rear end spring over axle rear bigger coils and fox shocks w/res up front bilstein on back
33 bfg mudders all the way around

things I need to do drivers motor mount is broke currenty has a peice of wood between the a/c comp and the frame, hp p/s hose leaks, slave looses fluid after a while he thinks it the line. and biggest of all is the wiring is all hacked together and needs sorted and done right..... wish I could just buy a harness.. for the motor and redo it....
the other he did was put the whole 98 dash in the 90, he did a pretty good job but it needs a little fitting. me my self I would tried to keep the stock one or put in the older style and use after market gauges I like the two 5 inch holes... he said he had to put the dash in to make it all communicate. I read 410fortunes conversion and he still has his older dash(the one I like). so I know it can be done.

I also am going to find a set of ex.sport seats and hopefully I can make them all fit in the bII it only has front seat right now. also need a front window and the rear sides.

all things aside it runs pretty damn good and handles well also 3.73 are kind of low for 33's but as you can imagen it has no problem spinning its wheels or getting out of its own way.

going to need lots of work, drove it to work today drives really nice, My brother actually drove it way down south of the border and back in its current condition. but I guess he alot luckier than I am cause all I see id alot of wiring that need attention and cleaned up and just done right. I checked the heads and it has the ribbs so I guess its a gt40p.

here the dash and interior. don't know if Its going to stay this way I'd rather go to the first gen style dash and go with autometers, but like I said my brother had though it needed to have the dash to make the cpu happy. is that because he used the cpu from the explorer? Is there another one I should use instead.

Your brother did a lot of work to get Bronc to this point and the fact that it survived the trip south and back drinking the Mexican Burrro drip that passes for gas down there kinda tells me its not too bad. Got a lot of good parts with it and on it and the body looks good, in my opinion the dash was a good call on his part, engine, trans, dash, cpu, harnesses etc. all out of the donor helps to eliminate a lot of nightmares in a EFI swap. If it were my call thats the way I would do it and like you I prefer the aftermarket gauges, but don't like the headaches of sorting through codes, wiring and sensors. It can certainly be and has been done and I'm sure some relish the task...think when you get what you feel needs to be done completed you'll have a fine 5 liter B2 just the way you like it! Oh yeah I went completely through 410's thread & it's one of my favorites...super build.

just was checking out your truck thats nice I thought about making it topless I have a 77 trailduster and when I used to drive it it was so nice with the top off.....

on another note do the 91 explorer p.mirrors mount on the bii? doors look the same but I've never had the mirror off an explorer to see how it mounts.

should be a good running Bronco, i wasn't all that impressed with the 5.0 in my buddies 01 explorer but it was an xlt with all the trimmings on 35's with 4.56's and it prob needed a tuneup, it really seemed anemic, but the again so do the 4.0's in the explorers and they rip in bII's.

how about awesome!
