Trailer Anti-Sway assist stays on...

That is one of the advantages of EPAS. Since it is an electric motor, it does not create any engine drag like the old hydraulic pumps do. The EPAS runs off of the car's electrical system, which is charged by the alternator, which is more than likely clutched to reduce engine drag as much as possible by charging only when needed, improving gas mileage further. Ain't technology grand? :)

Welcome to the Forum plumbago. :wavey:
Are you trying to stir up some trouble here with your initial post? ;)
Although I'm not a technician, after reading what Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS) does, I don't think it affects fuel mileage. I don't see where is has anything to do with deceleration or braking either. Happy motoring.

This is my first post at this Forum. I just purchased a new 2013 EcoBoost, and this is the third Explorer I've owned. I'm not sure who you are or why you think I was trying to "stir up trouble with this initial post". I certainly was not, but I certainly don't care for your attitude or your welcome to the Forum....best regards Plum

Whoa, slow down there cowboy. The little winky smiley face meant Peter was only kidding. We try to keep things light in this forum as it can get a bit tense at times when frustrations boil over. I am sure Peter meant no offense, as he is one of the more helpful people on this board.

Congratulations on your new ride! We love to see photos of each others Explorers, so post 'em up when you get a chance! :)

Boy did we ever get off on the wrong foot! As Vince mentioned, my statement, "stir up trouble with this initial post" was meant in jest. Therefore the ;).
I like to see new members joining up and have welcomed many of them to the Forum since I signed up. The members here are very helpful and eager to lend a hand when someone has a concern or question regarding their Explorer.
In any case, my welcome stands. :)

Looks like I missed the smiley face interpetation. Often I just read the written word as my nature is "say what you mean and mean what you say" I'll try and do better, and thanks for the welcome...I'm excited about the new EcoBoost, and finding a good Forum to learn and share info and experiences from.....moving on........ best regards Plum

2014 Explorer Steering Issues

Anyone having problems at high speeds 60-80mph with the vehicle trying to do its own thing (change lanes) or feels very sloppy and always trying to compensate?

thanks

Dave

Welcome to the Forum Novaexplore.:wavey:
As per my PM, I have moved your post to this thread. Although it may not seem to fit, read through it and it may shed some light on your issue.
The Explorer has EPAS (Electric Power Assist Steering) with Drift/Pull Compensation. Perhaps that needs to be looked at. You can also try turning the Trailer Sway OFF and see if you notice any difference. Like I mentioned in this post, I didn't and it defaults to ON when you start the vehicle.
Good luck Dave.
