I Got a 96 explorer XLT with a 4.0 and its a 4 door. Ive been having transmission issues with it. I've blown out 2 transmission (both rebuilt) from just daily driving. Im not on my 3rd tranny that went on me every tranny that blew out on all of drive gears have gone out and I only have Reverse. Any ideas on whats going on?

There was about 10,000 on that rebulit tranny The fluid level was fine and the filter was replaced when I hit about 5,000. The odd part about this is the tranny started to slip when ever it down shifted. Which does sound like a value body problem. The Tranny fluid was burnt after that happened. My how thought is I think the type of tranny the the 4.0 have are weak trannys in general. Does anyone know what type of tranny that the 4.0s have?

Ok thanks do u know if there are any shift kits avaible for that type of tranny or any other types of trannys that would bolt up? The odds are im going to have the tranny rebuilt but I want to do right this time so if u have tips or advice to help out I will have a open mind thanks
