After changing my fluid and riding around a while, the level is in the middle to upper H area of the dipstick.
Should it be lower taking into considering that even though I rode around for a good 30 minutes, it wasn't enough time to get it hot, plus it is only 30 degrees, and I bet that the fluid temp isn't much past 100 degrees?

It seems there is only a few ounces difference between "C" and "H" on the stick.

Hopefully you don't get offended by this but there should be some indicators on the dipstick that would show if your tranny is low on tranny fluid.. Also hopefully you checked it on a level surface with the motor running.. I've heard of people checking the fluid on a hill..lol

The dipstick isn't like the oil dipstick, it just has an area for cold and hot, like the power steering dipstick.

Thats odd.. Mine does.

Even if it is 30F outside, your tranny will heat up pretty fast.. Just keep it out of Lockup and it will generate heat, so if you drove it for 30 minutes, there is a good chance it was up to temp..

Using the OBD-II, after an 1/2 of highway driving at 55 degrees outside, the tranny temp was 105 degrees.

That sure seems low for 30 min of driving.

Actually, when highway driving, you most likely have the torque converted locked (and in OD). That means very little heat generation.. You will generate much more heat in the tranny at 40mph than you will in OD with Lockup at 55.

Mine runs about 150 F during highway driving.

Al you live in a warmer climate which would certainly make a difference.

Damn, is that really why?

When I am at the ranch in Georgia where it is cold as hell, the readings are similar.

Maybe you shouldn't post thing you know nothing about.....

I know nothing about the topic? I suppose you're a certified ASE transmission specialist? Of course, in your own mind, you're the expert in all topics, of course we all know differently.
