1999 ford explorer
hey everyone, so I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff, but i was hoping you guys and gals could help me out figuring whats wrong with my truck. I have a 1999 ford explorer sport.

So for starters, when im idling in park sometimes the engine will rev up from around 500 rpms to about 1000, then drop so low that it sometimes stalls, this happens in all weather conditions and when the trucks cold or hot, but it doesn't happen all the time.

another thing is while im driving it will stick at 200 RPM's no matter how much gas im giving it, until i let off the gas pedal and re-apply gas, then it picks up again, it also sometimes when im doing about 90kph will drop from high rpms down to low rpms for a split second and jump back up, it makes an unholy noise when it does this and scares the hell out of me each time.

and finally when im doing about 50kph it will shudder a bit till i give it some gas(usually have to let the gas off first then hit it again) and get it to about 60.

So im not sure if these are symptoms of one big problem, or a few small problems or a mix of small and big problems, any help would be amazing.

If you could get a code reader and let us know what codes it's showing it would make it much easier for us to help you. You seem to have a number of possibly unrelated problems.

The idle problem could be the Idle Air Control valve, or several other things. The engine suddenly dropping to low RPMs at 90KMH would indicate the trans has dropped out of gear and for some reason the engine dropped to idle.

We just don't know without more information, especially the codes.
