Hello all I recently encountered a problem with my 2004 explorer it's 4wd 4.0 and the problem I noticied the other day is it's getting harder to shift into park. so whenever I put it into park I gotta go back into reverse then it'll go into park no problem. Any ideas I don't really want to take it to the dealer unless I really have to. Thanx in advance for any help..

That could be the brake shift interlock is malfunctioning. There is a TSB about this issue. Send me a PM with your email if you can't find TSB 04-22-12 on the 'net someplace.

Hi guys, I also have a 04 Explorer and I'm experiencing the same problem when I want to get the transmission in park from D or any forward gear. Did you find the info regarding this issue?
