tranny pump tool

maybe i am not saying it right. lets say if i put in a new tc in so i removed the tranny then removed the tc, do i have to use the tool?? i just dont see why i have to use the tool if i never opened up the pump. my od broke so i just replaced that part nothing else but i did take the tranny apart to clean parts from the od that was in there and i just order a used od and a used tested pump, so do i still have to use the tool eventhough i did not open the pump up????

The tool is used to align the pump gears once the pump has been opened.

thats the thing i did not open the pump i only removed it from the tranny so i could get to the od gears. so i dont need the tool???

lol i am so mad right now i knew it but everyone is saying i need it lol. i waited a month for parts and looking for the tool and i found it on rotunda but they are not shipping intill 8/1.. hey thanks alot for your help now tomorrow i am going to install the tranny. thanks

The tool is good to have. You could check the alignment of the pump/gears since you have the tool.
