Hey guys my wife has an 06 Explorer. It's a 4.0. The tranny is shifting rough and bangs into reverse. As you know it has no dipstick so no clue how the fluid is. I have found procedures on adding fluid, but I was wondering about dropping the pan and changing the fluid and filter as well. Is it possible or did Ford make that unserviceable as well? Thanks for the help.

Welcome to this forum! It still has a pan with a filter.
So then I can just pull the pan and just have to use a pump to fill it back up? What is the fluid capacity when draining the pan?

Do you have a 4WD? The capacity is a little more since it has a deep pan. The link to the Explorer spec page is on the main forum page.
