Hi,

I just got a 94 5-speed explorer with 83000 miles on it. When I run the engine above 3500 rpm I can begin to feel a moderate vibration in the shifter nob. The vibration has a small period, it is not a wobble.

I have driven a lot of manual cars but not trucks, its possible I am just not used to it.

The engine sounds and runs great a lower rpms and performs well at higher, just with the vibration. I am just worried the problem might get worse, anyone else had similar?

Thanks

Tom

Welcome to the world of the Ford Explorer.
Regarding the vibration, have you attempted to search the arcives on the board ? Try dooing a search on "vibrations" and see if there might be anything that could shed some light onto what you are describing. My first recomendation would be to check the u-joints. If one is starting to fail it may bind enough to cause a vibration.

Searched

Yes, I looked through the archive, its either an engine or tranny problem because it happens in neutral stopped.

Thanks

Tom
