97 expo xlt 5.0L 2wd My trans locked up on me at 2-3 gear. Driving, shifts...STOPPED! Back wheels locked and stopped me cold. Put in park checked it out. Put it in drive and it happened again. Now its in limp in mode and wont go above 2nd gear. Im guessing its a stuck valve or 2-3 solenoid? Fluid level fine, smells fine. I have @ 140,000 mi. I am now expecting to find OEM plug in pan that previous owners may not have changed fluid. If so I plan on dropping pan and doing VB valve/ solenoid work myself. would sonnex cure kit do the job of replacing likely needed valves? How can I check that the solenoid operates properly? If its not likely those two, what else could it be? My trans is 4r70w right?
