I had my TRS replaced a few weeks back by the dealer.I noticed that the Over Drive button won't turn the O/D on or off.My question is could there have been anything the machanic might have done on accident to disable the O/D.I will be going back on Monday to have them fix the selector because its now one selection off. That is my wife put it in D but she didn't know why the car wasn't moving and that the engine was racing.
The reason the TRS was replaced was it kept blowing fuses when it was shifted past R, which knocked out the R/W Defogger,Reverse lights and auto door locks.
Thanks to this form I am having the dealer do TSB 00m12 at no charge to me.Hopefully this fix will take care of the bad idle during the cold starts.I am not sure if I should clear the P0171&P0174 codes before I bring it in or not. I replaced the IAC with no luck on the idle.

When it rains it pours. All these issues in the last 3 weeks

Me? I'd leave the codes. As for the TRS, someone either didn;t realize it had to be aligned or just got lazy. There is an alignment tool that makes it childs play, and many places do it by hand, but a dealer ought to have the alignment tool for the TRS which makes it idiotproof.

Do you think the dealer could have affected the over drive while doing the TRS?

the tr sensor has to be aligned up properly but it is easy there is a mark that is lined up with neutral put the tranny in neautral and take the the switch and make the mark is pointed at neutral and put it back on and tighten it back up ford says there is a tool
to line it up correctly but that is bs if anything you can at least check it to see if they installed it right lol

After looking at Glacier's valve body diary...which was impressive...I think its safe to say that the TRS replacement wouldn't effect the overdrive causing it not to work.I didn't see any fuse location for the O/D in the owners manual.
Its been over 25 years since I got paid to fix cars and this form is a great way to get reeducated and introduced to the new technologies.

i had the same issue of it blowing fuses like that on me, but i havent actually replaced the trs yet. i finally traced down why the fuse was poping it was due to a short that was in the reverse light harness. so i fixed that and now it doesnt pop fuses just im afraid the sensor is shot due to the fact i dont have reverse lights still, and this is over a 8 month time frame haha. im planing on doing the sensor tomorrow, ill let you know what i figure out.
