I have a 2003 ford explorer it clunks really loud when I take hard right or left turn in forward or reverse, I disconnected the shift motor from the transfer case with the truck off and it clunked again like it popped out of 4 wheel. It also kills the battery if you leave the shift motor plugged into the transfer case and 4x4 low light blinks 21 times. Is there a relay or switch closed?
