currently my electric transfer case is out of commission. i'm gonna swap in a manual but with 8 inches of snow on the way tonight i want my 4x4 back. i have found out that my shift motor is what is acting up so my question to you guys is.......cani climb under, pull my shift motor out and shift it into 4H manually? this would be an emergency thing but if it works my life would be a little better off.

Yup, once you pop off the shift motor get a pair of vise grips or the like and just turn the shaft to the proper mark.

would i have any problem reasssembling it afterwards. think i cold get away with just tying up the shift motor to the frame or something. with my manual hubs and manually engaging the transfer case, i think i might be alright.

i need to find a manual t-case and all the swap parts. spring break project to go along with my 6 inch suspension lift.

doug,
on a side note, you're spring over in the rear right? how did you set up the pinion angle and everything?

he is not spring over in the rear still under but talk to

Dasfrem or lizardtrac they both arte spring over and lizard is solid axled

looks like i might have fixed the transfer case problem...for now.. went outside a few mins ago and beat on the shift motor with a hammer. light turns on and my 4x4 is back. good thing since its snowing like hell with 8-10 inches forecast overnight. chances are there is somehitn else wrong somewhere too but if it works a little more then i'm happy.

Setting the pinion angle can sometimes be kinda complex you'd probably be alright keeping the pinion angle relatively the same as it is now though you might need to lengthen your driveshaft by an inch or two to compensate. i know of some people who have gotten away with the stock driveshaft and other's who had to get it lengthened.

Tran Case 4x4 lights

Hey gang, after reading all to read about the trans case and motor acting up, my lights work, click clang in the rear, but it just doesn't seam like 4x4 or L. Tried to spin in L4x4 but the fronts did nothing. Are these diff. POS or ? In L4 i get one back pass tire spining. Is it hammer time? If it my motor, would the lights come on still?
