transfer case noise

1991 ford ranger 4x4.....well it is either in the tranny or transfer case...i think transfer case...i resently changed my truck from electronic shift to standered...hubs and all...I have one big problem...its extreamly loud...it seems like its clicking in and out of drive...standered tranny...5 speed...how does the transfer case work...could it be the chain is to sloppy...186,000 km on it...everytime I shift it makes noise or when i'm on the highway doing 90 km...when i take my foot off the gas it seems to change gears...sounds like it is jumping out...went under the truck and moved the drive shaft...in neutral...noise in transfer case...notice a small leak in speedometer...have to pull it...probly o-ring...all new universal joints front and back drive shafts...not the clutch...any thought...can someone direct me to some topics...ty
