My transfer case sounds like it has marbles in it, Auto. 4hi,and 4low seem to work fine. I bought this used 2 weeks ago with 60k on it. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Check to make sure it is full of fluid or better yet full of new fluid.

You sure it's the transfer case, and not the timing chain/cam tensioners (if you have the SOHC engine)?

The transfer case was low on fluid, filling it took care of the noise. Now i hear another noise, it's coming from the front end. The best way i can describe it is a low volume whooping noise (whoop-whoop-whoop) and it only occurs when coming to a stop. It also does it if i coast to a stop with out using the brakes. It sounds like its coming from the right front. Any idea's ?. Thanks

Hard to really tell from here, but I'm thinking its a wheel bearing.

Dust seals have been a common problem on '95 and up Explorers. They make a squealing noise in the front when they get dry. They can be greased or replaced if the noise doesn't stay away.
