When I am on the highway and the truck is pulling everything is fine. When I let off of the gas to coast, something in the transfer case sounds like it is spinning out of control. You can drive it with two feet (keeping one foot on the accelerator and one on the brake) and it won't do it. I know that it is not the transmission because, it pulls good and shifts good. Fluid that came out of the transfer case looks fine. I have the 4.0 SOHC, 5 speed automatic and the control trac AWD. I need to know what kind of case I have. And also if anyone knows what is going on. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the site. You sure its your transfer case that is making the noise? I know alot of members on the forum experience sounds coming from their rear differential. Can you describe the sound?

I know for sure that it is not the rear-end. It sounds like something is spinnig out of control with a high pitch whirr that gets lower pitched the slower that your ground speed is. But, it only does when it is free wheeling (coasting) and not when pulling.
