Transmission 5R55S is stuck in some kind of safe mode

Any one know how to get a automatic transmission 5R55S out of safe mode because my 2006 explorer lxt will allow me to put the shifter in any gear with the brake on to get it out of park but no movement in any gear and no engine check code or check lights wouldn't that mean it's in some kind of safe mode?

I have never heard of a safe mode on the 5r55s. will the trans go into neutral?

the 5r55 series transmission is known to have issues you can do a search on this forum and find more threads on the 5r55 transmission than any other component.

Yes it goes into every gear but you can excellerate and nothing happens no movement in reverse or forward

ok its possible you are low on transmission fluid that would be something to check. the problem is there is no dipstick on the trans so its not easy to check. the only other thing i can think of is internal damage the 5r55 is known to have problems exactly like this. check fluid first then go from there.

Sounds like it’s time for a transmission shop.

I fear its time for a rebuild. Daughter's 2010 Ranger did that suddenly and transmission had to be rebuilt.
