Transmission dipstick tube fire

Was driving sons 2001 v6 explorer when bottom of dipstick rotted enough to let tranny fluid leak on to exhaust headers and catch fire. Just a heads up. I never heard of this before.

Fortunetly damage was limited to plastic inner fender well and now something in ac melted so that it makes blower noise but no airflow

Best part my daughter was driving and she just got learners permit

No new for me, but my problem was for the vent, water boiling mixed with tranny fluid

Sounds like a Gen 2 problem. Were there any recalls for this?
